Peterborough striker Scott Rendell has set his sights on a permanent move to Torquay despite interest from other League Two clubs.

Rendell impressed during a loan spell with the Gulls last season but his performances did not go unnoticed.

Burton manager Paul Peschisolido recently admitted he was monitoring Rendell's situation, while Football League new boys Stevenage are also understood to be keen.

But when asked whether he was still hoping to join Torquay, the 23-year-old told the Herald Express: "Definitely. There are other clubs' offers on the table, and I've already turned down a few of them.

"I'm hoping that this move comes off, one way or another."

Rendell has yet to report back for pre-season training with Peterborough as he has been away on holiday, and he added: "I was supposed to be at Peterborough last Monday, but I didn't go in because I was still away.

"I've been in Torquay since then. If things don't move on, I may have to report back to Peterborough, but hopefully something will be sorted out."
