Millwall defender Tony Craig is set to undergo a foot operation on Monday after suffering broken metatarsals.
The 25-year-old sustained the injury during last weekend's League One play-off final against Swindon, which saw the Lions secure promotion to the Championship.
Club physio Bobby Bacic revealed the defender opted to have surgery in the hope of speeding up his recovery period.
"Tony has elected to undergo surgery on the broken metatarsals in his foot sustained in the play-off final," Bacic told Millwall's official website.
"We had a meeting with the surgeon who outlined the options which also included allowing the bones to heal naturally.
"However, this option means slower recovery time whereas the operation, in which the bones are pinned together, allows for an accelerated recovery as the bones have the additional support from the metal pins."
