Yates decides on retained list for next season

Cheltenham Town's veteran strikers Julian Alsop and Barry Hayles have not been offered new contracts by manager Mark Yates. Alsop and Hayles are among eight players on the look-out for a new club after midfielder Scott Brown, Jack Durrant, Will Puddy, Michael Townsend, David Hutton and Lee Ridley were also released. But goalkeeper Scott Brown, Dave Bird, Andy Gallinagh, Justin Richards, Michael Pook and Josh Low have all been offered fresh terms, while the Robins are also set for talks with club captain Shane Duff about extending his stay. "I would like to thank all the players for their efforts in securing the Football League future of this club," Yates told the club's official website. "For one reason or another I have decided against offering some of the players new deals for next season. I wish them all every success in their future careers and thank them for working hard and keeping us in League Two. "For those who I have offered contracts too - I will be speaking to the chairman and the players concerned to try and sort things out as soon as possible. "It's important that we build slowly, keep what we want to keep and do everything possible to ensure we have a hungry, competitive squad of players that want to take the club forward." Jake Lee, Theo Lewis, Kyle Haynes and Josh Emery have already been offered professional deals.
