Oldham's Deane Smalley is thankful to be back playing after recovering from a career-threatening back injury.
The 21-year-old missed the opening three months of the season with the problem but has now recovered and regained his place in the Latics first team.
Smalley admits there was a real chance his career was over but is now looking forward to the rest of his playing life.
He told his club's official website: "I was told there was a slight chance I might have to retire and, when you hear that, you fear the worst.
"Having that in the back of my mind for three months was a nightmare. But with the help of physio Marc Czuczman, who I have a lot to thank for, I am back playing, and long may that continue."
