Midfielder has seven stitches in leg injury

Walsall midfielder Dwayne Mattis is facing a month on the sidelines after requiring seven stitches in a leg injury. Mattis picked up the injury during the Saddlers' 2-1 win over Brentford on Saturday and he was replaced early in the second half. He was taken to hospital for treatment on the problem and there were fears that Mattis would require a lengthy spell on the sidelines. However, Walsall manager Chris Hutchings is optimistic that the 27-year-old will be back in his plans in around a month's time. Hutchings told the Express & Star: "It's a bit of a blow to be without Dwayne for a few weeks, but it could have been worse. "The cut looked worse than maybe it was at the time. "He's had the injury seen to and dressed now and, once the stitches have been removed, he'll join back in with the group."
