Brighton manager Gus Poyet is unsure whether he will be able to push through a deal for Chris Holroyd.
The Cambridge striker, 23, has been unable to agree personal terms with the Seagulls and time is running out before next Monday's deadline.
Poyet accepts that it is not always possible to successfully land transfer targets but he anticipates more activity at the Withdean Stadium over the next few days.
"There is no change, nothing at all," he said of Holroyd. "I don't know what is going on now but there is still time to do a deal.
"Sometimes you have to realise that if you want someone you are not always going to get him, but that is a normal transfer-window situation five days before the window is closed.
"It's probably going to be a busy last couple of days, both in and out. It's not something you can plan. It can happen right now or at 4.30pm on Monday."
