Bristol Rovers are confident defender Byron Anthony will soon sign a contract extension.

Only 'fine points' are delaying contract agreement

Bristol Rovers director of football Lennie Lawrence is confident Byron Anthony will soon sign a contract extension. Skysports.com revealed on Monday that Rovers were in talks with the defender and an agreement would now appear to be only a matter of days away. Anthony, who joined Rovers in 2006 from Cardiff, has established himself at the centre of defence this season alongside Danny Coles. Lawrence is therefore keen to see the 25-year-old commit to the club and he is convinced that only minor details need to be settled. "We have almost reached agreement with Byron - there are just one or two fine points which are holding things up," Lawrence told the Bristol Evening Post. "But we are confident we will be able to conclude things satisfactorily. "I have known Byron since he was a youngster at Cardiff and we feel he has progressed during his time with us."
