Brighton are set to sign Chris Holroyd from Cambridge on Monday, subject to a medical being successfully completed.
A fee has been agreed for the 23-year-old who has found the net 15 times in the Blue Square Premier League this season.
Holroyd has scored 24 goals in 56 appearances since joining Cambridge in the summer of 2008.
Brighton boss Gus Poyet will therefore hope that the striker can carry that form on and make the step up into League One.
The Seagulls currently sit 19th in the third tier and travel to Aston Villa in the FA Cup on Saturday.
