Brentford defender Leon Legge has signed a new contract to stay with the League One club until 2011.

Scott happy to reward defender for progress

Brentford defender Leon Legge has signed a new contract to stay with the League One club until 2011. The 24-year-old joined the Bees from non-league Tonbridge Angels over the summer and is currently keeping skipper Alan Bennett out of Andy Scott's side. He has made six appearances for the club to date and Bees boss Scott believes Legge fully merits his new contract. "We felt that Leon has improved in the short time he has been with us and has the potential to improve still further," Scott told the club's official website. "Therefore we were pleased to offer him an extension to his current contract, which was for one year with a year's option, and have now extended the contract until the end of next season. "It is a reward for the work he has put in so far and I know that the longer he stays with us the more of an asset he will become."
