Keeper feels Grecians have found their feet in League One

Exeter goalkeeper Andy Marriott believes the Grecians have now found their feet at League One level. Many tipped the Devon outfit to go straight back down after back-to- back promotions took them from non-league into the English third tier for the first time in 15 years. But a run of three games without defeat has helped them climb six points clear of the drop zone and veteran Marriott is confident Exeter can hold their own this season. "I think we've adapted quite quickly to playing against some very good sides," he told skysports.com. "It's been a big learning curve for us because we've gone up two seasons on the spin - three years ago Charlton were in the Premier League and we were playing against the likes of Farsley Celtic - so it has been a big change for us. "The crowds are bigger than what we were used to and we're playing against better players but I think we've adjusted quite well and played some good football. We've probably played better than the points tally shows too."

Good mindset

Saturday's 2-2 draw at third-placed Colchester has left Exeter in 17th and Paul Tisdale's men will be hopeful of improving that on Saturday away to Stockport, who are 21st. "We came in with the idea that this season is about consolidation, then we can try to move on next season," added Marriott. "I think that's a good mindset to have. "To get ourselves into a decent mid-table position would be a fantastic achievement and that's what we'd like to do. "We know it's going to be a very tough season because there's a lot of good sides, including Southampton, who are only below us at the moment because of their 10-point deduction. "It will be difficult to keep them down because they've got so many good players and a fantastic support base. "So we've got to keep the points ticking over and make sure we don't get into a run where you're not winning games because you'll soon get yourself into trouble."
