Stoke City full-back Andy Griffin admits he is prepared to consider a loan move to Middlesbrough in search of regular first-team football.
Griffin has been restricted to appearances in the Carling Cup this season and he has not started a Premier League match since his infamous bust-up with team-mate Ricardo Fuller against West Ham United last December.
He has been linked with a move to Middlesbrough after his name appeared on a list of purported transfer targets being carried by new manager Gordon Strachan.
The 30-year-old has not been contacted by the Championship club, but acknowledged he would give 'serious thought' to moving to the Riverside.
"I would be interested in going on loan because I don't think I will be playing at Stoke," Griffin told
The Sentinel.
"But it has to suit myself and my family, so we will have to wait and see.
"Middlesbrough is not somewhere I could commute to every day, but sometimes you have to look at a situation if and when it arises. It would also depend on what Stoke want to do.
"I have had no phone calls about Middlesbrough, but, if something did occur, I would have to give it serious thought.
"It would be the chance to play first-team football for a club challenging to get back into the Premier League, as well as working for someone of the calibre of Gordon Strachan."
