Albion boss remaining tight-lipped about contracts

Brighton & Hove Albion boss Russell Slade was left impressed by trialists Gary Roberts and Amodou Abdullei after both netted for the reserves on Tuesday. Abdullei scored an acrobatic scissor kick to open the scoring against Brentford, with Roberts adding his second in as many games soon after as they triumphed 3-1 at Griffin Park. However, Slade refused to indicate whether the duo would be offered contracts with the Seagulls and may prefer to take another look at their performances for the reserves next week. "Both of them did really well yesterday and it was a very good game," he told skysports.com. "Last week Leyton Orient had a strong side out as well and it was really competitive. It was the same again this week really, with likes of Steve Kabba, James Wilson and Myles Weston all featuring for Brentford, so it was another good test for the lads. "The trialists gave another good account of themselves, with Roberts scoring his second in as many games and Abdullei's goal a very eye-catching effort, so they have given me something to think about."

Loan deals

The former Yeovil Town boss has been pleased to welcome recent loan signing Gavin Hoyte to the side from Premier League giants Arsenal, but he refuses to rule out another forage into the loan market. "You never stop looking and there are always possibilities out there, but the transfer window isn't that far away now either, so we have to start thinking about that as well. "Gavin has done very well since joining us and has improved in with each game he has played. He has got used to his team-mates and is improving day by day, so we are pleased with him and there is always a chance of getting someone else in at the same time."
