French striker agrees deal

Carlisle United have completed the signing of Vincent Pericard. The 26-year-old has been training with The Cumbrians and he has now penned a short-term deal until January. The Frenchman, whose previous clubs include Juventus, Portsmouth, St Etienne and Sheffield United, has been available on a free transfer since leaving Stoke in the summer. "He's been at big clubs and he has played at a very high level and his pedigree is there," said manager Greg Abbott. "His fitness levels probably aren't where he would like them to be at the moment, but he isn't a million miles away. "His attitude has been terrific and he has really enjoyed what we have done this morning. "He wants to come here and help us out, and that's excellent for us to know. We're delighted that he is here and hopefully he will help us to get the goals that we need to move us up a notch or two. "He's with us until early January at the moment and that's a contract length that suits us all. If he gets anywhere near being back to his best then it will be very difficult for us to hold onto him. "In all honesty, that's the type of form that we are looking for. If we keep him for a bit longer then that will be good for us. "At this stage, everyone is a winner. He'll help the strikers who are already here, and we think that he will give everyone a real lift."
