Millwall captain Paul Robinson is hoping to return to training with the rest of the first team in early October.
The defender spent six months on the sidelines after requiring two operations on a broken metatarsal before suffering a new injury during an aborted comeback.
Centre-back Robinson turned his ankle 35 minutes into his return against Barnet in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy three weeks ago to force him back into the treatment room.
Manager Kenny Jackett has seen his side make a mixed start to the League One season and would be sure to welcome the leadership provided by his returning skipper.
Lions physio Bobby Bacic said: "We expect to have Robbo back in training early next month."
