Midfielder earns contract after impressing in pre-season

Brighton & Hove Albion have snapped up Alan Navarro on a two-year contract after the midfielder was released by MK Dons. Navarro left the Dons at the end of the last campaign and has been training with League One rivals Brighton during pre-season. The 28-year-old has shown enough to warrant a deal and Seagulls boss Russell Slade is happy to add Navarro to his squad. "He's been excellent for us during pre-season and he gives us a different dimension in the midfield," Slade told the club's official website. "He is a very clever player and showed on Saturday just how he can make a team play." Slade also confirmed Brighton are set to sign teenage midfielder Jamie Smith on a one-year contract after he also caught the eye in pre-season. "Jamie has done exceptionally well throughout pre-season," added Slade. "He's worked hard to convince us he is worth a contract and he has the potential to be a very good player."
