Carl Cort is currently on trial with League One side Wycombe following his release from Norwich City at the end of last season.
The 31-year-old, who cost Newcastle £7million nine years ago, has started just 16 league games in the last two seasons.
Injuries have undoubtedly taken their toll on the striker but Chairboys manager Peter Taylor is keen to cast an eye over the former Wimbledon youngster.
Cort was among five trialists on Saturday as Wycombe defeated Blue Square Premier side AFC Wimbledon 1-0.
The most notable of the five hopefuls along with Cort were former Peterborough and Brentford forward Callum Willock and ex-Ipswich and Leeds midfielder Ian Westlake.
Taylor has revealed that he will inform the players whether they have done enough to secure a full time contract at Adams Park on Sunday.
