Smith arrives on two-year deal from Motherwell

Brighton & Hove Albion have landed goalkeeper Graeme Smith on a free transfer from Motherwell. Smith had been offered a new contract by the SPL club, but has opted to sign a two-year deal with League One side Brighton. The former Rangers youngster had been assessing his options after also being linked with a move to Well's SPL rivals Hibernian. He has now become Brighton's fifth signing of the summer and manager Russell Slade is happy with his latest recruit. "Graeme comes with a good pedigree," Slade told the club's official website. "He has been the regular first choice for Motherwell in the SPL over the past two seasons, and featured in their Uefa Cup campaign last season. "He has represented Scotland at B level and certainly has a good presence at over six foot tall. Alongside Michel Kuipers we now have ample experience in the goalkeeping department for the new season."
