Striker Pawel Abbot has signed a two-year deal at Oldham Athletic after arriving on a free transfer from League Two side Darlington.
The 27-year-old flew back from a summer break in Poland to sign the deal on Friday and will join up with the Latics for pre-season training at the beginning of next month.
Abbott, who has a Polish mother, played under Oldham boss Dave Penney while at the Quakers before the former Doncaster boss moved to Boundary Park in Arpil.
He is Penney's fifth signing of the summer as he joins Rob Purdie, Jonathan Worthington, Joe Jacobson and Sean Gregan amongst the club's new look squad.
"I'm delighted to get this deal done as we have ourselves a proven goalscorer - Pawel's goal ratio is excellent," Penney told the club's
official website.
"I know for a fact that a lot of clubs were in for him and some of them were offering him better financial terms.
"But I think the package of playing in League One and working with me was right for Pav when he could have taken money elsewhere.
Penney added: "He's only 27 so is in his prime and I'm confident the goals will flow if we can provide the service.
"We've signed a proven scorer on a free transfer at a time when those type of players tend to cost a premium in fees and wages."
