Stockport defender Michael Rose is close to joining Hartlepool, skysports.com understands.
Pools are looking to strengthen ahead of the new League One campaign and have identified Rose as a key target.
The left-back has been with Stockport since moving to Edgeley Park from Yeovil in 2006.
He has established himself as an integral member of the Hatters side, making more than 70 appearances for the club over three years.
But Rose is now poised to set out on a new challenge as Hartlepool aim to push through a transfer in the near future.
Hartlepool boss Chris Turner has already secured the signing of defender Neil Austin this summer.
