Saunders, Strevens and Foster sign on at Griffin Park

League One new boys Brentford have landed winger Sam Saunders, striker Ben Strevens and defender Danny Foster on free transfers. The trio came close to helping Dagenham & Redbridge into the third tier last season, but will now make that step up with the Bees. Having seen their contracts come to an end at Victoria Road, they have opted to cross London and try their luck at Griffin Park. Saunders admits the opportunity to work at a higher level, under the guidance of the highly-rated Andy Scott, was too good to turn down. "I'm getting to the stage of my career where I want to play at a higher level. Brentford will be playing the likes of Charlton Athletic, Southampton and Norwich City next season whereas Dagenham will be playing Macclesfield Town and Chesterfield," he told the Waltham Forest Guardian. "I met Andy and he seemed really keen to sign me. He's really hungry and a young manager who is going to go places. I was delighted. "There is a touch of sadness leaving Dagenham but also a touch of excitement joining Brentford."
