Mike Newell has admitted he would be interested in signing Adrian Forbes on a permanent basis.
Forbes spent time on loan at Grimsby from Millwall towards the end of last season and made a good impression on manager Newell.
He scored three goals in 15 appearances to help the Mariners beat the drop and has expressed a desire to return to Blundell Park.
Newell is also keen, telling the Grimsby Telegraph: "I've been in touch with Adrian so he knows we are interested.
"But you have to remember he is coming from a club at the top end of League One and that would more than likely mean a drop in wages.
"Whether that will be something he would go for I don't know but it's nice to hear he is keen to discuss a move here."
