Abbott keen to make loan deal permanent

Carlisle United manager Greg Abbott hopes the club can secure the services of striker Michael Bridges on a free transfer from Hull City. Bridges spent this season at Brunton Park on-loan from Hull City and scored seven league goals in his second stint at the club. Carlisle have first option to sign the former Leeds United man when his contract with Hull City expires this summer and Abbott is hopeful talks next week can seal a permanent move. "Michael is a good player and good players are always on the radar," he told the club's official website. "He showed us towards the end of the season that a fit Michael Bridges can make a real impact. I'll speak to him next week and see what his plans are and we will see if there is anything that we can do. "Obviously we haven't spoken yet so we will have to wait and see what he has to say before we say anything else."
