Stockport have rewarded their young player of the year Matty Mainwaring with a contract extension.
The former Manchester United trainee has agreed a deal which will keep him at Edgeley Park until the summer of 2010.
The talented teenager has also seen his fine form this season earn him a call-up to the Republic of Ireland U19 squad for the European Championship this summer.
Mainwaring will now be hoping to play a major role in Stockport's efforts to stabilise after slipping into administration.
The Hatters parted company with boss Jim Gannon on Wednesday as they attempt to cut costs and preserve the long-term future of the club.
