Thordarson to speak to players out of contract

Crewe Alexandra boss Gudjon Thordarson is hoping to persuade Danny Woodards to sign a new contract. Woodards' current deal expires in the summer and talks over an extension had been placed on the back-burner while the club's fate was decided. The Railwaymen have now been relegated to League Two, and Thordarson plans talks with Woodards and the other players in his squad who are out of contract. "Danny and ourselves decided to put any talks on hold until the season ended and we knew where we were going to be," Thordarson told the club's official website.

Squad will be the same

"The players will be in for fitness tests this week, so hopefully I will get a chance to speak to a few of them before they go off for the summer. "There will be a few players going, but the majority of the squad have one or two years left, so therefore the majority of the squad will be the same. "There cannot be that many changes, but we need some players for the big part of the squad. "We will have to see what is available and what quality we can bring in for the money we have. "I only want good quality. All I can promise is that I will do my best to bring good players in for certain areas of the team."
