No Swindon deal for Australian veteran

Swindon have admitted they are unlikely to pursue their interest in Mark Bosnich. The 37-year-old goalkeeper is currently a free agent after a short stint playing in the Australian A-League with Central Coast Mariners. Bosnich, who has previously played for Manchester United, Aston Villa and Chelsea, has not featured in England since 2002 when he was banned for nine months because of drug abuse. Swindon chairman Andrew Fitton has admitted to having talks with Bosnich about a possible return to England - but he has now revealed that is unlikely to happen. "There were some discussion with Mark Bosnich, but I'm not expecting it to go anywhere," he said. "He is a guy who was once a very high quality goalkeeper, but who has since fallen on hard times, and you must never rule that out. "But he has got to want to come here and I am not sure that is what he wants. "It is most likely he will end up playing in Malaysia or Japan or somewhere like that."

Greer

One man who is considering a permanent deal with Swindon is defender Gordon Greer. The 28-year-old has been on loan at The County Ground from Doncaster since January and has impressed for Danny Wilson's side. His contract at Doncaster is due to expire in the summer and Swindon want to take him. "It feels like it's time to move on from Doncaster and I want the best deal possible for myself and my family," said Greer. "I've been offered a deal with Swindon, but there are offers to go back to Scotland and a couple in League Two to look at as well. "I've really enjoyed my time here. I've loved working with the manager and players here so we'll just see what happens. I'd like to get it done the sooner the better for me and my family, but I'll have to weigh up everything."

Pro-deals

Meanwhile, Swindon have also handed professional contracts to four members of their successful youth team. Goalkeeper Mark Scott, full-back Nathan Thompson and midfielders Kurt Hammonds and Lloyd Macklin have all been handed one-year deals having completed a two-year scholarship with the youth team. Andy Westall has also been handed a six-month contract extension after a season blighted by injury. The move comes after the club's under-18 side won their league. However, it was not all good news as Jamie Taylor, Danny Wallington and Jack Winter were released at the end of their scholarships.
