Manny Smith is hoping to be offered a new contract by Walsall at the end of his 'breakthrough' season.
The 20-year-old has made 25 first-team appearances for the Saddlers this term and has enjoyed his opportunities under Chris Hutchings.
He is among a number of Walsall players to be out of contract in the summer and the defender is keen to build on his campaign.
"This has been my breakthrough season," he told the Birmingham Mail.
"I have had a good run of games now and hopefully I can look forward to next season.
"My contract is up in the summer. I have had to prove to the gaffer what I can do, that I can be trusted and that I am a decent player at this level.
"I need to keep playing 100 per cent and doing what I can do, and then, hopefully, I will get picked every game and keep improving."
