Norwich have confirmed that Carl Cort will miss the rest of the season after going under the knife.
The striker recently underwent surgery to remove a bursa from his foot and will be sidelined for some time.
It is expected he will be out of action for between six to eight weeks, by which time the current campaign will have come to a close.
"Carl's had minor surgery to remove the bursa underneath his foot - he'll be out for six to eight weeks, but he'll start his rehab on Friday," head physio Simon Spencer told the club's official website.
"Initially this will involve resting him and looking after the rest of his body and continuing with his knee strengthening.
"Carl's well, and he's keen to get on with the rehab. After four weeks we hope to have him jogging and we'll then start building him back up to get him back after the six to eight weeks."
The news has come as a major blow to Cort, with his short-term deal with the Canaries only set to run until the summer.
He will now face an anxious wait before finding out whether his services will be retained for next season.
