Colorado Rapids have offered a contract to Crewe captain Julien Baudet, skysports.com understands.

The French central defender is out of contract at the end of the season and is yet to be offered fresh terms by the League One side.

Now the MLS outfit, who are managed by Englishman Gary Smith, have made their move to land Baudet, who has been playing in England since 2001.

After spells with Oldham, Rotherham and Notts County he joined Crewe in 2006 and has emerged as a firm fans' favourite.

But Baudet is now considering his future after being offered terms on a two-year deal by Colorado, who have informed Crewe of their intentions as MLS clubs are required to do so.

It is also understood there is interest from clubs in the Championship and League One and the player is now deciding where his future lies.
