Reuben Hazell has signed a new contract at Oldham which will keep him at the club until 2011.
The defender had opened negotiations with club officials in recent weeks and reached an agreement prior to Saturday's goalless draw with Leicester.
The 29-year-old has become a regular for the Latics since completing a 2007 switch from Chesterfield.
He has made 73 appearances for the club in all competitions, including 32 starts for John Sheridan's side this season.
Hazell made the breakthrough into the professional ranks at Tranmere and enjoyed spells at Torquay, Kidderminster and the Spireites prior to his arrival at Boundary Park as a free agent.
Having enjoyed one of the most productive periods of his career with the League One outfit, he recently expressed his desire to see out his playing days with the Latics.
