Scunthorpe boss Nigel Adkins has revealed he has made a third bid for highly-rated Gateshead starlet Lee Novak.
The Iron are chasing the striker, who has netted 17 goals in 20 games for the Blue Square North side, after Adkins ran the rule over Novak earlier this week.
Adkins has already had two bids turned down by Gateshead but is hopeful to capture the striker in the coming days.
He told the club's official website: "I went up to watch him on Wednesday - we want to bring this player to the football club and we would like to do that now.
"We think he's got a bright future in the game and he ticks all the boxes.
"We have made a fresh offer to Gateshead. We've talked to them at chairman to chairman level again and those talks are ongoing. We'll just have to see what happens."
