Swindon Town boss Danny Wilson admits he would be interested in signing Michael Nelson, if the Hartlepool United defender was available.
Wilson worked with Nelson at Hartlepool and remains a big fan of the centre-half, who has also been linked with Leeds United and Leicester City.
New Swindon chief Wilson is keen to add an experienced stopper to his squad and would relish the chance to take Nelson to the County Ground.
"In an ideal world an experienced centre-back is what we are looking for - to pull them together a bit and make us tighter," said Wilson in the Hartlepool Mail.
"If Micky Nelson becomes available you can rest assured we'll be very interested in him.
"Micky Nelson's a very good player at this level. He could slot into any side quite honestly."
Meanwhile, Wilson will cast an eye over French duo Lescinel Jean-Francois and Hamdi Razak when Swindon's reserves take on Swansea on Tuesday.
