Yeovil Town are close to finalising a deal for former Port Vale striker Luke Rodgers.
The 27-year-old's contract with League Two side Vale was cancelled by mutual consent last week.
He had recently spent a month on loan at Yeovil and scored twice in six appearances for Russell Slade's side.
Slade had been hoping to conclude the signing of Rodgers before Tuesday's 2-1 home defeat by Scunthorpe United.
However, Yeovil are now optimistic the move will be finalised within the next 24 hours after the forward travelled to Somerset to put the finishing touches to the deal.
