Versatile midfielder attracting interest from Championship

A number of Championship sides are reported to be monitoring the progress of Walsall's versatile midfielder Chris Palmer. The 25-year-old joined the Saddlers in the summer and has been hugely impressive during his time at the Bescot Stadium, filling a number of roles whilst securing his status a key first-team performer. Palmer signed an initial six-month deal with the Midlands outfit, but his eye-catching form has alerted the interest of Nottingham Forest and other Championship sides and also League One outfit Leeds United. Palmer is understood to be keen to remain with Walsall given his successful stint at the club, but his agent admitted the former Derby County man is keen to secure his future and also that of his family with a new long-term deal. "Chris loves it at Walsall and has no intention of leaving," Saif Rubie told skysports.com. "However, he and his partner have just had a child and he has to look after the interests of his family. "We are hopeful something can be sorted out soon."
