Danny Woodards has admitted that he may be forced to leave Crewe in the January transfer window.
The 25-year-old defender joined Crewe in 2007 but has yet to put pen-to-paper on a new deal for personal reasons.
Boss Steve Holland may decide to sell Woodards in the New Year rather than risk him moving on for free when his contract expires next summer.
Jon Brayford has been preferred at right-back in recent weeks and Woodards accepts that his future is in the club's hands.
"If they want to sell me in January then that is up to them as they run the club and it is their decision," he told the club's official website.
"I've spoken to them a couple of times, but I would rather wait and see what happens.
"I would like to stay, but certain things happen in your life and I have things I need to sort out.
"Like any player, even though I am on the transfer list I still want to play.
"But Steve knows what is best for the team and Jon is doing well, so I've no complaints about him being in the side."
