Carlisle have extended the loan of Sunderland midfielder Graham Kavanagh for a second month.

Veteran midfielder's loan extended until December

Carlisle United have extended the loan of Sunderland midfielder Graham Kavanagh for a second month. Kavanagh has scored once in six appearances for the League One strugglers since moving to Brunton Park in October. He has agreed to stay with the Cumbrians and is set to be involved in Saturday's FA Cup first round tie with Grays Athletic. Caretaker manager Greg Abbott told the club's official website: "We need strong characters and we need experience and Kavs brings us both of those. "On top of that he's a very good footballer as well, so it's good news for everybody. Hopefully in his next month we will all see the upturn in results." However, on-loan Tottenham goalkeeper Ben Alnwick has been denied permission to face Grays, so Ben Williams is set to return to the team.
