Midfielder to be allowed to play regularly

Crewe Alexandra midfielder Ben Rix has been made available for loan to boost his chances of regular football. Rix has made four appearances for Crewe in all competitions this season, but has struggled to get into Steve Holland's line-up in League One. He is the club's longest-serving player and is out of contract at the end of the campaign, with Holland keen to help Rix secure regular first-team action. "I'm more than happy for Ben to stay here, but I also understand that he wants to play," Crewe's first-team coach told the club's official website. "He is in the last year of his contract here and his chances have become limited in the centre due to the form of Michael O'Connor and James Bailey. "They have cemented their place in the midfield and Mark (Carrington) has earned his opportunity to be the next one to go in."
