Leyton Orient striker Wayne Gray is out for six months after undergoing knee surgery.
Gray ruptured his anterior cruciate ligament during Orient's 0-0 draw with Carlisle United earlier this month.
Scans last week showed up the extent of the damage and he has now been in for an operation to fix the problem.
He is likely to be sidelined until next year, with Orient boss Martin Ling lamenting the injury to Gray.
"It's a huge blow, both for the player and for the football club," Ling told the club's official website.
"He is facing a long spell on the sidelines and we will have to bring in another striker to replace him in the short term."
