Bristol Rovers manager Paul Trollope is expecting to complete the signing of Bournemouth striker Jo Kuffour later this week.
Kuffour is due to finalise personal terms with Rovers after the two clubs agreed a fee in the region of £60,000.
The forward has asked to leave Bournemouth and had been linked with several teams in League One.
However, he appears to have plumped for a move to Rovers, with Trollope confirming the deal is close to completion.
"We believe Jo and his agent are coming down on Tuesday or Wednesday to hopefully tie things up," Trollope told BBC Radio Bristol.
Meanwhile, Rovers duo Aaron Lescott and Stuart Campbell have signed contract extensions with the club until 2010.
Trollope added: "They've both signed for another year so have two years left.
"Both have played huge parts in the last few years, and I think Aaron was part of a group of players who kept us in the Football League.
"They deserve it, because they have been consistent performers in the first team, and they set an excellent example both on and off the pitch."
