Chris Palmer has joined Walsall on a free transfer after impressing manager Jimmy Mullen on trial.

The full-back was released by Wycombe Wanderers back in May and has been training with Walsall in pre-season.

He has now earned a contract with the League One club and Mullen expects the 24-year-old to be a useful addition to his squad.

Mullen told the club's official website: "Chris came in at the start of pre-season and was determined to prove what he is capable of. He has done that and deserves this opportunity.

"He's worked extremely hard and displayed an excellent attitude.

"He's a good footballer with two good feet and has the ability to play in a number of different positions both on the right and left, which is invaluable in a squad the size of ours."
