Sky Blues hope to sign striker

Chris Coleman remains hopeful of bringing free agent Clinton Morrison to the Ricoh Arena. The Coventry boss had targeted the former Crystal Palace striker as a direct replacement for Michael Mifsud. However, with the Malta international's proposed move to Bristol City having collapsed there were doubts as to whether the Sky Blues would continue to pursue their interest in Morrison. Coleman insists that Mifsud will be welcomed back into the fold should he now decide to stay, and is adamant that the situation has not altered his plans. "It's very unfortunate for all parties concerned that a deal could not be done between Bristol City and Michael Mifsud," he told the club's official website. "But we have done our part in granting Michael's transfer request so now it's up to him. There is certainly no problem between ourselves and Bristol City."

Hopeful

Coleman is also hoping to give trialist Stephen Wright a permanent contract in the coming days and confirmed that he is set to discuss the full-back's future, as well as Morrison's, with club chairman Ray Ranson later this week. "The chairman is coming up to Scotland on Thursday and we hope to sort out deals," he said. "We'd love to sign both of them and we're hopeful something can be done."
