Crewe striker Shaun Miller has verbally agreed to sign a two-year contract extension at Gresty Road.
The 20-year-old held talks with first-team coach Steve Holland while on a pre-season training trip to Bulgaria and the pair reached an agreement.
The signings of Anthony Elding and Calvin Zola have led to speculation about Miller's future with the Railwaymen.
However, Holland has assured Miller he has a role to play over the coming League One season and he expects the forward to put pen-to-paper.
"Shaun has verbally agreed to sign an extension to his contract," Holland told Crewe's official website.
"We spoke about it over in Bulgaria and he has told me that he is going to sign a two-year extension, so that will take him through to 2011.
"We are committed to giving Shaun a go this season and he will be there or thereabouts with the first team.
"He will have a part to play and we think he has a bright future with us."
