Stockport County have agreed a fee to sign midfielder Carl Baker from Morecambe.
League One new boys Stockport have been chasing Baker throughout the summer and have previously had three offers rejected.
However, the Hatters have now reached a deal with Morecambe, who will receive an initial £175,000, rising to £225,000 depending on performance.
Morecambe have also included a sell-on clause in the deal, with vice-chairman Graham Hodgson admitting the club did not want to prevent Baker from stepping up a division.
Hodgson said: "We have now agreed a fee for Carl with Stockport after turning down several bids which we didn't feel were acceptable.
"We are a club that never wants to stand in a player's way when the chance to progress his career is available, but at the same time we have to consider the best interests of the club on every occasion which we did here.
"Carl was excellent for us last year and made the step up to the Football League well and we really do wish him well."
