Striker Bas Savage could soon be swapping the Den for Prenton Park.
The Millwall player will discuss terms with fellow League One outift Tranmere Rovers after manager Ronnie Moore made a formal bid last weekend.
While reluctant to leave, the 26-year-old believes he may be surplus to Millwall boss Kenny Jackett's requirements.
If so, he could seal a move as he does not want to be without employment in January.
He told the South London Press: "If (manager) Kenny (Jackett) is happy for me to talk to Tranmere it is a sign I am not going to be first choice next season.
"I have the option of another six months with Millwall but I don't want to end up with no club in January, and be out of the game for a couple of months, which is what happened last year.
"We'll see what happens. If it does come to it, I will be very sorry to leave Millwall because Kenny helped me a lot and I really enjoyed my time there."
