Rovers keen to offer striker a permanent deal

Bristol Rovers remain confident of tying up a deal for veteran striker Wayne Andrews. The 30-year-old is currently training with the club following his release from Coventry at the end of last season. His rehabilitation from an injury sustained in the closing stages of the 2007/08 campaign is progressing well and the Pirates boss Paul Trollope is hoping that an agreement can now be reached which will allow the former Crystal Palace man to remain at the Memorial Stadium. "Wayne is in the late stages of rehabilitation from his knee injury, the one he picked up against Yeovil when he was with us (on loan) at the end of last season," Trollope told the club's official website. "He's joined us with a view to becoming a permanent signing, and he is of interest to us. We beat off a lot of competition when he came to us on loan in March, and although it didn't work out, we've kept in touch and if the rehabilitation goes well then we'll be looking to secure a deal. "The fact he's here shows he'd like to join us, and if we can sort things out then I think he'll be a good addition to the squad."
