Defender joins Sky Blues in Austria

Stephen Wright is hoping to earn a permanent deal at Coventry after joining their pre-season preparations. The full-back, who is available on a free transfer after being released by Sunderland, has joined the Sky Blues at their training camp in Austria. He played in a weekend friendly against local side FC RFE Vocklabruck, helping City to a 2-1 win. The former Liverpool man played a key role in Sunderland's promotion to the Premier League in 2007, but fell out of favour last season and spent three months on loan at Stoke. With Coventry manager Chris Coleman currently in the process of rebuilding his squad ahead of the 2008/09 campaign, chairman Ray Ranson confirmed that the 28-year-old is one of the options they are exploring. "Stephen is having a look at us and the manager is having a look at him," he told the News Post Leader.
