Striker set for season in League Two

Bristol Rovers have allowed Richard Walker to join Shrewsbury on a season-long loan deal. The Shrews were keen to bolster their attacking options as boss Paul Simpson looks to piece together a squad capable of challenging for promotion to League One. The last time the club came close to making the step up, in 2007, they were denied in the play-off final by two goals from Walker. Having already proven to the New Meadow faithful what he is capable of, Simpson is hoping that the experienced forward can add another dimension to his side.

Clever

"I'm really looking forward to getting him involved and working with the rest of the players and hopefully showing the goalscoring form that I think he can show," he told the club's official website. "He's not the quickest forward but he is fantastic at getting balls rolled into his feet around the box and twisting and turning. "He has an eye for goal and gets himself into good goalscoring positions and he's that type of player you need to have."
