Adebayo Akinfenwa has snubbed interest from Leyton Orient and Grimsby Town to sign a new contract at Northampton Town.
The striker joined the Cobblers in January on a short-term deal and scored seven goals in 15 League One appearances for Stuart Gray's side.
He was offered a deal to stay at Sixfields, but also discussed moves to Grimsby and Orient, whose manager Martin Ling was confident of signing Akinfenwa.
However, the 26-year-old has accepted a 12-month contract with Northampton, with the option of a further year, much to Gray's delight.
"I am delighted that Bayo has signed," Gray told the club's official website.
"Bayo was within his rights to talk to other clubs, but I am delighted that he has shown us some loyalty.
"He did very well for us when he came in last season and I think he is enjoying it here. He is popular in the dressing room and the fans love him, and now he has a bit of security I hope he can kick on and we will really see the best of him.
"We wanted to keep him and he wanted to stay and I am delighted we can continue to plan for next season with Bayo now a part of those plans."
