Scunthorpe United expect unsettled goalkeeper Joe Murphy to still be at the club next season.

Murphy wants to quit Glanford Park following the club's relegation to League One in order to boost his international ambitions.

The Republic of Ireland keeper has 12 months left on his contract and the Iron are not looking to cash in over the summer.

"There has been no transfer request from Joe and he has not spoken with the chairman," acting chairman Rex Garton told the Scunthorpe Telegraph.

"We did some time ago have a conversation with his agent who indicated Joe's ambitions and inquired whether we would let him go. But it has gone no further.

"As far as we are concerned Joe still has a year of his contract to run and we expect him to be our goalkeeper next season.

"We are not fixing a price on Joe because he is our player and we expect him to remain here.

"I do not know whether he has been influenced to say things because he is currently away with the Irish squad - most of whom play at either Premiership or Championship level."
