Swansea City are waiting for Garry Monk's response to the offer of a new contract.
The defender recently secured a one-year extension after he triggered a clause in his deal at the Liberty Stadium.
But Monk has been offered a long-term contract with Swansea following the club's promotion to the Championship.
The 29-year-old has yet to agree to the terms on the table, but Swans chairman Huw Jenkins is hoping for a positive answer.
"We have offered Garry improved terms and we are waiting to hear from him," Jenkins told the Evening Post.
"We fully expect him to take up the offer.
"We feel that Garry was a major part of our achievement in winning League One, and when you take into account the great season he has had as captain he deserves this deal."
