Grimsby Town have joined the chase to sign Northampton Town striker Adebayo Akinfenwa.
The 26-year-old will soon be out of contract at Northampton and is weighing up his options.
He has discussed an extension at Sixfields and has also held talks with League One rivals Leyton Orient.
Akinfenwa could also be offered a move to Grimsby after the League Two club confirmed an interest in the forward.
Pace and power
"It is a player that we have certainly enquired about," assistant manager Stuart Watkiss told the club's official website.
"The manager has spoken to his agent and we have lodged our interest, but that is as far as it has gone.
"He would bring a little bit of pace and power to our front line, which at the level we play at is important."
Akinfenwa scored seven goals in 15 appearances for Northampton after joining the club in January following a spell at Millwall.
